We’re excited to announce enhanced dental benefits for eligible members in our UnitedHealthcare commercial plans.

What this means for you

As of Jan. 1, 2024, the following dental services will be covered and paid under most of our dental plans:

• Restorative foundation, D2949, will be added as a covered code. Combined with the coverage for D2950, this code gives you additional flexibility to treat patients when there is need for restorative material to be placed in the tooth. 
• Resin-based composite posterior restorations, D2391-D2394, will be covered and paid based on actual submitted codes. Alternate amalgam restorations will not be applied. 
• Free soft tissue graft procedure, D2949 will be added as a covered code.
